Case Studies
Clips:
To start, the idea needed to revolve around the event theme: Create, Innovate, Generate. We needed to prep the attendees to lock into a mindset that would allow for the greatest results. Since the act of creating requires the brain's right hemisphere, and generating requires the brain's left hemisphere, it was logical to pursue the brain as the visual hub.
Under this directive, a 3D brain became the focus of three of the five videos. A "walk-in loop", that played during seating, and the "corporate open" which played at the beginning of each general session and the first of three daily videos. The videos reinforced to the viewers that all good ideas rely on the full use of the mind to carry them from concept to reality.
These videos were created and rendered using Newtek's Lightwave, composited in Adobe AfterEffects then edited for final output in high definition using Apples' FinalCut Pro.
The next step was to create the three daily videos that would play at the opening of each of the general session. Since we had three videos and three key words we broke them up that way.
Create: This video focused on the process of thought that the mind undergoes to achieve results. The video combined artistic and scientific imagery in a split screen format, to engage the viewers mind on both levels. To further strengthen this two hemisphere effect, a male and female voice drove the narration from the left and right speakers. The end effect was an immersive experience for the eyes, ears and mind.
Innovate: At the time of the video's creation, Time magazine has recently released their Person of the Year issue with "you" the internet generation as the nominee. So for this video we wanted to show all the past Persons of the Year, who were true innovators of their time and end up on the "you" cover to trigger the audience that this is their time to act.
Generate: What does it look like to produce on an idea? We thought that Virgin's X Prize civilian space flight was a great example. So for the third and final video, we created a trip through the history of space flight, augmented it with memorable quotes and ended on a "reentry" animation that brought the viewers to a satellite view of the conference hall.
CSC was very happy with the effects of this video package. After the event was over, we had requests from various department head to provide selected content from the video to help them augment their own internal efforts. Currently we are working to produce another video set for CSC 2008 meeting.
